Do dating websites for people with std's liberate or quarantine?

This is a recently published article on the nerve.com about whether folks with std's dating on std specific sites is a good thing or a bad thing. Your thoughts?

Hi Grace,

I just read that article.  I personally think having herpes/std dating sites is a really good thing. I have been living with HSV2 for over 20 years too.  I have recently had my first rejection, due to HSV, in all these years (and we are still sort of dating actually) ....and I have been in many monogomous, intimate relationships.  I think several of the guys I was involved with over the years really really really wanted to accept "it" more than they were actually able to in reality, if that makes any sense? But, it always seemed to be a "third person" in the relationship.  I decided to peek in on H-Date a couple weeks ago. I was on there two days when I "met" a guy who I connect with in more ways than I thought imaginable. Pretty amazing really......a "too good to be true" scenario for sure.  We have more things in common than I have had with the guys I have been meeting on other sites...LOL....We are going to meet face to face in a couple of weeks....we live in different states.  I am excited about having an opportunity to get to know someone without exerting so much energy by walking on eggshells around the sex issue.  If we hit it off, and want to get down and get naked, well, we can just go ahead and do that. LOL  The site has enabled all of us to have a level playing field where we can interact and share all our really important personal characteristics without that looming, "uh, there is something else you need to know".......  I have been on other dating sites that are catered to  "country", "horsey", "christian", etc people and, although I have met some great guys, some of whom have even become great friends, I have yet to meet anyone more suitably matched for me as I have on the H-Date site .....it will be interesting to see what happens....it really might be "too good to be true"....but, then again....it just might finally be time.....irregardless....it will be refreshing to finally have some conversations early in a relationship without having "the talk" hovering in the back of my mind.

so, do I think they liberate or quarantine?????  dunno, but, I do know there are lots of really terrific people, like myself ; ), with Herpes, who are relieved to have a place to meet others like ourselves.

I'm with ya - if they can have dating sites for "10's" , genius iq's, dog lovers and vegetarians - why not for folks with herpes?  I haven't had much success on any dating website lately ( last guy I had a date with - chose to move to a different state after just 1 date - usually they just move to a different town and not until after several dates....he he he ) but why can't I take the herpes issue out of it all?  I've been talking about my herpes for 22 years now - don't I deserve the break?
