Well I'm 34 and pregnant for the 5th time, and OMG it's Twins!!!!!!  So now my family and I can really be considered the bradybunch.  I have alot of medical problems, and it makes my pregnancy so much more high risk!  I'm worried more than I should be.  I have Graves disease(an autoimmune disease), which my last child was born with.  In an infant it's called Neonatal Graves, and is usually a passing thing for the child.  But it can cause all kinds of health problems for them as well as cause death in a fetus.  Then I was on steriods for the same disease, which caused me to have diabetes.  So right before I became pregant I had just stopped the steriods that I had been on for almost two years.  This caused my blood sugars to go down!  Oh thank GOD!  So no more meds for Diabetes type 2.  I also was being treated for High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol, and on meds for both, but everything was going well without them for two weeks so the doctor took me off completly!  This pregnancy wasn't suppost to ever happen, if my daughter hadn't been born early, then I would have had my tubes tied!  Since my insurance required preapproval for that procedure, I didn't get to have it.  Dang it!   So now here I sit wondering what on Earth is going to happen during this pregnancy.  There isn't a doctor within 2 hours of my home that really has dealt with Graves, well at least to the exstent that I have it.  I saw a doctor that was suppost to be a specialist for Thyroid and Diabetes, an Endo, but he didn't seem to have any updated treatment options for me.  Actually it seemed I knew more about what was going on with me, and the treatments than he did.  I guess it's a good think that he recently closed his practice.  So I am now being treated by my family doctor for all my issues, since she is the only one around here willing to treat me!  She a fairly new doctor, and willing to do what ever it takes to make me healthy.  She's great.  I found a thyroid specialist four hours from here, for her to consult with during my pregnancy, so that my babies will be healthy.  I am now just hoping and praying that they, as well as I survive all these complications, and come out of everything healthy, and happy.  I know there isn't very many people that are having to deal with Graves that have had to deal with it to the exstent I have had too, and that makes it all the more complicated.
