I work at a Domestic Violence shelter in Michigan. I am sitting here, watching some of the women talk amongst themselves and it just makes me sad. I see a lady who had it all....two incomes, two kids, a husband of 8 years.....and she woke up with NO memory of what happened to her so she called the cops. Apparently, her husband got jealous about something and punched her, knocking her out cold instantly. When she comes to, she has no memory of who she is or what had happened so she calls the cops. She later hears her 6 year old daughter telling the police that her husband had hit her, knocking her on the floor, then continued to punch and kick her repeatedly in the head. The police said she barely made it out alive. She is heartbroken because she can not imagine how she went from having it all to being in a shelter. I love my job, but sometimes it is so depressing. Why are there people like that in the world??? Ladies, if something like this or any kind of abuse is happening to you, be EMPOWERED to tell someone. It's not your fault...its HIS!!!!!
