I've had neck issues for nearly 10 yrs, see a Chiro on occassion for adjustments, which help. Had a fractured skull from MVA about 26 years ago; no issues from that. Suffered extreme migraines for many years; however, it's been ages since I've had one. I do get frequent headaches that sometimes get close to becoming a miagraine. Head injury and whip lash summer 06 and since then have had more pronounced neck issues, but nothing I can't deal with.
Over the last 3 months have experienced numbness and tingling in both feet & hands, legs and forearms. Happens on & off all day and will wake me from a sound sleep in the middle of the night. During the night these sensations can be very intense. Doesn't matter how I sit, lie down or whatever, I still experience these symptoms. Left hand and forearm is more pronounced. Last week started feeling a buzzing/vibration in right forearm - as if my cell phone was on vibrate and under my arm. In past years have experienced some numbing in left finger tips, but it went away.
I'm healthy and relatively fit. I don't go to a doctor unless I'm on the verge of the flu or something like that. I do see my OB/GYN yearly, as well as my dentist and eye doctor when I should. I eat healthy and try to exercise. I do take Celaxa, which my primary doc prescribed about 6 yrs. ago because I was having many headaches and was tired a lot. I was in grad school at the time and juggling a new baby although I wasn't depressed or anxious. I only take 10mg daily and have found that the Celexa "takes the edge off." Stress... who doesn't have stress in today's world?? I don't consider myself to have extreme stress and I also have a wonderful significant other, family and friends that I'm very close with.
These symptoms, as well as my neck issues are getting to me so I'm going to see my primary doc tomorrow (11/1) to get bloodwork done to rule out B12 dificiency, metal poisoning, lyme disease, thyroid, diabetes, Celiac and MS. Orthopedic doc told me last wk. she doesn't think my symptoms in my feets and legs are coming from my neck; it would have to be lower back, but I'm not having lower back problems. I'm not one to get too worked up about my health because I'm always very healthy, but I have become a little concerned with the thought that it could be MS. I have a couple of friends (my age and younger) who have MS and both of them had negative MRI's while they were experiencing these same symptoms. In fact, several MRI's showed no lesions and then eventually the lesion(s) showed up a year or so down the road. So.... it's my believe, but I'm not a doctor so I could be wrong, that sometimes people do have the beginning stage of MS, but it isn't showing up yet. Will keep you posted. Thanks!!
