So it happened. I knew it would, and it did. After swimming Ryder and I were in the change room and he noticed that the little girl with her mommy next to us had different parts then he did. He looked perplexed and well, he asked. I was prepared and in a very matter of fact voice simply said..."well honey, boys have penis's and girls have vagina's". I did not want to make a big issue out of it and also wanted him to understand the proper names for body parts. He seemed to accept this and didn't say another word...until....
We are out getting groceries the next day. As usual he is in the front of the cart. In the meat aisle he looks at a slightly older gentleman and says "you a boy? you have penis?". Someone shoot me now. I smiled, turned red and moved on. Until the next aisle where there was a little girl about his age also in a cart and he screams "mommy, that girl - she have 'gina?" I nod to the mother, mumble something like "kids say the funniest things" and off we go. Yep, he learns quickly....his new favorite activity is to identify boy or girl and then ask..."penis or "gina". I am hoping this phase passes quickly.
