So I told my family today about my addicton to the painkillers and they just cried alot. They all say that I can make it throug but I just want to throw a tantrum and tell them they are creazy bc I can't do it... Im scared of the pain and this addiction has not only taken over my life but my way of thinking as well.... I feel like I'm in some kind of an opium cult. I just can't live this way anymore... Please any advice or suggestions would help... I have been taking about 50 10mg pills of hydro a day, and I have brought it down alot. Today I took 11. Any advice would be so appreciated.

Good for you to admit there was a problem. Just hang in there god will see you through the rough times. It will be hard for you, but with the support of family and friends you can do this. I know because my brother is going thru it right now.

Throw away the pills,do not have any refills refilled! Call your doctor and inform him or her of your addiction. Telling your family was a great way to start the recovery process and admitting that you have an addiction. You might also want to go to a NA(narcotics annonamous) meeting. They have a lot of support to offer you as well as councelors. If you don't like the meetings after a few tries, you have other options as well that you could check into. I hope that this is helpfull on your journy. Good luck hon!

sounds to me like ya are already on a good taper. just continue to cut doses. i see you have already gotten responses from magi, toxic , and r2r. they are great with tapers. i think we are lucky you found us! we need people that realize they have a problem and are ready to take back their lives. since your husband is such a great guy , have him help you finish the taper, and help with the w/d's you are gonna go thru. lots of people have gone thru these with the help and support of this forum! and we will be here to help you thru it as well. good luck and keep ya chin up....

I remember telling my sister...she had no clue.....I had her come on this site and she did a lot of reading also..it helped her to better understand what i was going thru...so maybe have some family/hubby visit this forum...then they will truly understand(well...prol' not) but at least they will be more educated about wds, detox and recovery and all the things that go along w/it....my sis was able to track how i was doing w/o calling me all the time and "bugging me"...those were her words, not mine! Good luck...this is an awesome site and we will help you get thru this!
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

I've been through exactly what you are going through.  Start by taking less and less.  There will be more before the will be no pain.  When I stopped I hurt so bad.  But then the pain started getting less and eventually it stopped for the most part.  I had gone to rehab and I just came out more of a drug addict then I was when I went in.  It's is going to take you wanting to stop before you will.  You are not alone.  I wish you luck and my prayers are with you.

Again, just keep doing what you are doing and take one day at a time.
