Estradiol too low for transfer?

Oct 31, 2012 - 12 comments

OK ladies, so I'm freaking out a little. My RE didn't get my estradiol level until this afternoon because the hospital is lame. Anyway it was supposed to be a stat test which means my RE would have had the result yesterday but never mind. So, I spoke with the nurse who said my RE would call me tomorrow but from what I am reading my E2 is low. I triggered last night for a natural FET on 11/6 and my E2 is only 109. I have been reading that your E2 should be between 200-600 with one mature 18mm follicle. Yesterday I had one mature 20mm follicle. Anyone know if this is significant? I won't know anything more until tomorrow. Crap.

I am sorry I don't know the answer, but sure hope someone does!!  It would seem to me they could up your estrace until transfer date and be able to see results.  It seems far enough away to me.  I am thinking of you, and praying for great news from your doc...

Thanks Mel, I am hoping they will just give me a mega dose and all will be OK. I already have my plane tickets.

I think it would matter most if you were counting on the 20mm follicle to fertilize which I'm guessing you are not since you are doing an FET. I'm assuming they are counting on the corpus luteum to support the pregnancy that will hopefully occur from the transfer...

It is curious as to why they would be checking your levels if they didn't matter though... So obviously you're going to have to ask the Dr. Also, It's hard to find info on e2 levels for a natural cycle but I believe it's closer to 150.

BEST OF LUCK!!!!!

Hey Mama Cher, thanks for your wisdom. They are planning on starting me on Progesterone suppositories the day of the transfer, so I guess that will be what supports the pregnancy (if there is one, sarcasm..can't help it). Guess I will find out more tomorrow.

I hope it all works out for you and you get your sticky BFP.  Good luck!   And thank you for your thoughts on my situation.  There is nothing easy about this.

If you have free access to your own estrogen supplementation, in your shoes I would be tempted to pop an extra pill or add an extra drop to the shot, until you know more.  It does seem that if the follicle is doing what they want it to, the estrogen level should not matter as much until you need a nice, thick lining.

Hmmm, thanks guys. I know my lining is tri-pattern and at 7.5 now, transfer 6 days away. I haven't taken any estradiol or progesterone this cycle, so maybe my RE will want to put me on estradiol now? I'll find out tomorrow. I think I was freaking out earlier due to the trigger shot I took last night. I think I am becoming more and more sensitive to all the drugs. I feel like I take one little pill or one little poke and then I am ready to start bawling. I so want a giant margarita right now, but alas, I'm waiting it out.

I wish I could help but I don't know what it should be either. I agre that they could give you some estrogen and it would be ok by time of transfer. FX your doc is thinking the same
Thing.

HI I  dont know it is that important as you already got embrio to implant. As I am having DE the only time they took my E2 levels was to check my body was down regulating on Suprecur injections. The first result showed over 100 so had to carry on with the shots . Had another one after a week and it was 80 . The doc was pleased it was down. I am now on Estradiol and Progesteron until transfer tomorrow. Then going on progesteron suppositories. I sure they will make sure everything is ready to welcome your little embie. I know what you mean about bawling though. Have your margarita honey! Help you relax. I am having a large glass of wine with dinner tonight . Want to feel totally chilled for tomorrow. Take care .Big hugs x

The other thing to remember is that all IVF clinics have one of their doctors on call all the time; you could phone in at any hour and get an answer from one of the IVF docs.  (Same is true for any pharmacy that sells the hormones needed for IVF -- my pharmacist told me I could call the emergency number even when the pharmacy is closed and get someone to meet me there if I needed something.)

Thank you guys, it really helps to have the additional info. I feel better this morning. Everytime I go see my RE I feel like I'm taking my car in for repair. We really have no idea what the heck they are doing under the hood. We only know if when we drive away everything works or doesn't work. I really hope this will be my last repair! Good luck on your transfer tomorrow Manda. I'll be curious to hear if they pass the embryos through a little window like take out. That part cracked me up last time. Hugs to all you wonderful ladies and may your dreams come true no matter what they may be. XOXO

Just saw your journal now.  I wish I could slip you a few of my estrace pills to help you!  Good analogy about the car....yep I feel broken down sometimes but I still keep on running.  Please let us know what your RE plans on doing.  Thinking of you!
