In addition to extensive community outreach to other NY & NJ communities hard hit by Sandy, today is "Secret Sandy Day" for one New Jersey community that's going on Day 9 for many still without power.  It's a random Act of Kindness day.  Today, people in this town will be dropping something off at someone's doorstep (if they still have a doorstep) .. reaching out, touching their community with kindness .. items are  simple...a candy bar, a cup of hot coffee, box of donuts, a game, flowers, a hug, etc... Just something to simply say..."you are not alone".

What a great thing to do on a day like today -- to show what being American is all about!

Wanted to share this with my MedHelp family, because we know what's it's like to lend a hand to a friend in need, to give support, to just be there when needed.

Please leave your comments below for everyone to see ...  share this journal on FB, Twitter, blog it  ... together we can make a difference!

Sending those without heat, a virtual {{{ hot }}} chocolate loaded with whipped cream.

Enjoying the ability to do something small....knowing that even just a few people will have a tiny bright spot in yet another difficult and challenging day. Sometimes it helps to remember that being positive is so much healthier when negativity tends to want to take over.

Day 2 - Secret Sandy continues .. even in today's  bad weather.  Many people still are without heat/power, and we're here to help our neighbors.

Tomorrow brings more Random Acts of Kindness in a time filled with fear and recovery and the start of the holiday season as well....We hope to inspire many others to join our mission as we bring a smile to as many faces as we can.

Can't take the thanks .. but am happy to pass them along to those who have organized and are reaching out to people without power!  Today is Day 11 no power/heat.

In addition to community outreach in the NY/NJ area, our Secret Sandy's have dropped off food gift certificates, delivered candles, cooked hot meals, opened their homes to do laundry, charge phones, use Internet, share generators, fill each other's gas cans and the list goes on and on ......Truly Amazing!

Glad to pass them along - we distribute though our fire houses and other locations. This idea in our community (closer toward the shore) I have not seen. I'll be sure to pass it along - it's a great idea. I'm grateful to say I was one of the lucky ones and back up and running only 4 days after the storm. Thanking God for every moment. Wishing you and yours better days ahead. Sandy dropped us over a foot of snow in my area - but I'm still grateful. ((((((hugs)))) to you.

Secret Sandy has helped so many in our community.  Our power has been fully restored and it's a warm feeling to see smiles from those who we've helped.  We're hoping to keep Secret Sandy going ALL year long. Our community has found that by working together in hard times, some good can be found even when you have to dig deep to find it.
