Today at my check-up I was 1 cm dilated. This is a huge change since last week... They will re-check me in a week and if I am progressing and opening I may be on bed rest in the hospital for the rest of this pregnancy. This is all so strtessful! Twins are about 3 pounds each which is a bit higher than 50th percentile for 29 weeks BUT their weight is sooo low!!! They are sooo not ready to come out. And there is so little I can do about this. I do not feel any contractions and hope for little change between today and Monday's check-up.

Lots of prayers coming your way! Their weight is really good, I know they need to stay in longer but at least they weigh good if they do come early. I know it's scary! Rest as much as you can.
just try and take it easy. I went into preterm labor with Fionn and went from 0-3+ at 30 weeks. Spent the rest of the time on bedrest. He was delivered at 37 weeks at 6lb 15oz. Can you go on bed rest now? Is there someone who can help with Anna?
feather, thank you for sharing! I know 1 cm means I can still go full term but my risk of pre-term labor is just much higher than it was before. I was dilating really slowly last time (I was 2 cm at 35 weeks and went all the way to 40 weeks) but with twins it is a different ball game. I am measuring 37 weeks and my body thinks I am full term already.
Helen- I hope you can rest up and there is little change. We want those little ones to grow nice and strong before making there debute. Praying for you
29 weeks is when I came VERY close to having my twins - I was admitted and placed on hospital bed rest (I'd already been on bed rest at home since 25 weeks). It did the trick and after 3 weeks at the hospital they let me go back home, and we ended up making it until exactly 37 weeks :) The only thing I can say is REST!! That is the most important thing you can do to keep your babies in. Lay down as much as possible to keep the weight off your cervix and get anyone who can help to take care of stuff for you. You're not still working are you?
Honey, put those feet up and try hard to take it easy. Not always easy I know. Either way though, at 3lbs and 29 weeks, those babies will be fine. I am attending my friends daughters first birthday party next Saturday. She was born at 29 weeks, and was a singleton weighing just over 2lb. That little girl has not been slowed down one bit and is doing great! She is totally on track for her adjusted age and is healthy and happy. So no matter what happens, I know those little ones are going to be fine!! Of course I want them to stay put as long as possible, but hopefully that gives you a bit of peace of mind. Hang in there my friend.
Update:
Today I was 2-3 cm dilated and cervix shortened further. I am in the hospital and will stay here probably till I deliver. The next benchmark is 48 hours for steroids and magnesium to take full effect. After that they hope I make it to 32 weeks (I am 30 weeks on Wednesday). My contractions slowed so that's a good sign... I guess

Helen that stinks completely and I understand. Did your dr say anything about doing a cerclage? It has been a savior for me and my boys. Hope all slows down and those babies stay put.
Helen I went thru the same thing except I wasn't dialating. Idk if you remember. But anyway that magnesium is no fun but if it works it will be worth it. Praying you make it to 32wks! I know it's scary but remember my boys were 32 weekers and they did great and are doing great. And I'm sure they were smaller then your babies. Did the say how big the babies are?
Lily, babies were about 3 pounds last week. That's good weight for 29 weeks but not for birthday, as you know.
Jen, it's too late for cerclage. I think I am too far along for that. They use it in 2nd trimester but not in the 3rd.

Gosh I seriously am going thru this emotional part of it with you as it's bringing back so many memories of how I was feeling when I had my boys and thinking how little they were at birth. I'm staring at them right now napping and I'm tearing up for you cause I understand how scary stressed you must be feeling

I am off all monitors and finally can move around to brush my teeth and take a shower. Will stay in the hospital under observation another 2 weeks till I am 32 weeks or longer. Being away from Anna is soooo hard right now!!!! I only see her after dh brings her after daycare for about 30-40 min. She loves spending all this quality time with dada but I miss her sooo much... I want to cry every day she leaves.
Aww... I'm so sorry this is so hard. As little comfort as it is remember this is for your other 2 babies safety and she won't even remember this time apart. The weekend is coming maybe you'll get to spend more time with her :) maybe try skyping her at bedtime and reading her a story, or in the morning while shs eating to make it feel like you're there. I know it's not the same but when my DH was away for 10weeks for school it helped us :)
