Numb

This is my worry... My daughter is 16 now, she was born with a birthmark on her head.(under the hair) Light brown with few pigments. Size of my palm. Dermatologist said to just watch for changes. It hasnt changed to my knowlage. (She was born natural with a perfectly round head(I was told that was unusual) Last year I noticed that it was becoming flat.(the birthmark) The PCP Dr. said she was just 'unique'. So we went with what he said. Now yesterday she comes home from school and its very tender to touch. to move the hair is extremely painful, throbing. and the flatness is larger. This is only for 1 day once a year for the past 3 yrs. Each Year she said it gets worse.Normally it is numb, poke it and she dont feel it. There is also a size of a quarter that is pinkish now. Half on half off the birthmark. We went to the ER and they said go to your PCP and get a refferal ASAP to the DERM. Thats not going to be for a few more days. She is tired quite alot. I'm wondering if maybe the birthmark could be deterriating her skull. I dont know what to do,think. I had the chance to take it off when she was little but i asked the DR and he said to just watch for changes/complications. Thinking I could have prevented this(maybe????who's to know right?) a long time ago....Now I feel like I made this happen in some way.I told her if shaving the head was required we are both going to do it....
