Testing

Feb 07, 2009 12:00AM - 8 comments

This was a test of myself if I could be out with friends and just have 1 or 2 and I passed. I had 1 beer before dinner and another with dinner and refused a 3rd later on.
This is not going to become common practice but I wanted to see if my will power was strong.

It's a good thing to be able to say no to a drink, the attitudes of my peer group have changed some what, back when we were 18 if you weren’t having a drink you were "soft", it is also something imbedded within Australian culture.  Now we all sight issues such as health, finances etc... as reasons not to drink and no one has a problem with it, we would rather just be out and about catching

catching up, was the last part of that

I agree with lizzi lou being only 25 days into sobriety and drinking just two.. will never fly in the long run.. abstinence will be what makes your dreams come true with your girl and yourself.... drinking will mess that up in a big hurry.. Check out some AA meeting in your are for extra support.. I wish you well.. lesa

Thank you for comments, but I was dry for 6 months and then I had 2 beers. I don't believe it is an addiction, what happened was when I would drink I would do some very stupid things and I would never just stop at 3 or 4 beers it would end up with like 8-10 beers. But I was not getting drunk everyday or even every weekend, but when I did drink it was excessively. I stopped drinking after a bachelor party and I drove about 1/2 hour home. The next morning I work up and did not remember the drive home. That scared me, scared that I would kill someone, that I would lose my family and I would rather die then live with the thought that I killed someone or that I did something to lose my wife and child (second one on the way). So after that night I really found God and decided the best thing for me was to stop drinking all together. When I had the 2 beers it was a test to myself that I could only have 2. If I went 6 months without a drink I could stop at 2. And I did and I am proud that I was able to do that.
And like I said it is not going to be common for me to have a drink or two, I have a wedding of a very good friend of mine coming up, doubt I will even drink there.

No it's ok, I wanted to give background on my situation.
I say addict to beer just because that is how I saw it even though I didn't think I was.

what i got hooked up with was the fact that you'd have sex with different women when you got drunk.. that's a big no. no. my father does that even if he wasn't drunk and believe me.. it never did wonders for our family. up to now we still have the scars.
