Women, empower yourselves with knowledge

It baffles me to see how little women really know about their own bodies.  Other women providing advice, help, answers to other women in need.  Giving them information that is absolutely and dangerously false!

Please don't give someone information as if it is a fact, when you don't know for sure.  It is one thing to have an opinion, and personal experiences and share them.  But lets face it, most of us aren't doctors, so should we really be providing "end all be all" answers?

I am really glad to see women helping others and sharing their personal experiences and advice, but please don't preach it like it's doctrine or a fact without doing some extensive research.  Someone's life could depend on it.

I totally agree with you! I have read some (and gotten some!) advice that is so off base, it doesn't even seem like they read the post....Its one thing to say "I had these symptoms and was diagnosed with ____" but its another to say "Oh, you have ______". I think this website is a great way for people to educate themselves and come together and realize they aren't the only ones going through this, but the advice shouldn't be substituted for an actual doctor's opinion....

I too am fed up with ignorance!  I only wish everyone who was ignorant could see it in themselves instead of projecting it onto others.

If you are referring to a post about wondering if he is the father, I found your post completely rude and uncalled for. A LOT of us women on here have been trying to concieve and know exactly how the female body works. People know when they come on here (especially if they read the disclaimer) that we are in fact NOT doctors and our advice should not be taken as such. So, instead of downgrading us women - freaking chill out...

i usually answer posts with it sounds like it could be......or you may want to consider seeing an ......and i usually point out that its a possibility,,,and Im a cna going to college to be RN  I know some but not all....if we can just stear the ladies in the right direction without an exact answer its a job well done..and as above poster notes its very clear that MH is a forum of adverage people helping people its opinions but Ive found some of these novices to come up with very educated theorys and some come up with hogwash...

The purpose of this journal was to motivate people to educate themselves and to caution them about "expert" advice they give.  I was not trying to start stuff.
