Lauren and a Referral

Lauren is our last child.  She was my gift from God to get me through breast cancer and chemo.  She also went through chemo with me, and all the premeds which included Decadron and lots of Zofran.  She also came into this world when everything in our world was in upheaval with the death of my father and my mother moving in with us to help out with Kathryn and Lauren.

She's always been a bit of a challenge child.  She has allergy issues, asthma, eczema, and she doesn't sleep...never has...wondering if she ever will.  The doc has seen us a lot for "itching" and "screaming" and "vomitting" and "not sleeping".  Poor doc.  She probably thinks we're incompetent.  Thankfully we have Kathryn to prove that we're not.

So, we're pretty close to our breaking points not knowing what to do for her, and finally asked for a referal to a specialist.  Wasn't sure who to see first, so the problem that is the most obvious is the allergy problems...asthma and eczema are the physical manifestations.  We got a call yesterday afternoon that we now have an appt with a pediatric allergist on the 20th.  That happens to be her 2nd birthday.  Happy Birthday!

We're so hoping that this doc can give us some help for her and for us.  We're not sure what to do with her some days, the topicals hurt (Elocon, Ellidel), Cetaphil can hurt sometimes, she's itchy and so we've been giving her Atarax since Benedryl doesn't help much.  It's a challenge, for sure.  We're hoping the rest of her issues are somehow related to the allergies, hopefully it's something that can be fixed or at least better managed.  If not, we're going to keep asking until we can get some answers.
