Surgery update!

Mar 16, 2008 05:36PM - 9 comments

Surgery went good, it is endometriosis.I had adhesions so bad it twisted my small bowel around large bowel, the adhesions are all over my bowels, that would explain all of the bowel blockages/pain, appetite loss and weight loss because of the pain.I relize its a chronic problem I'm going to have to learn to deal with now,its very painful, but knowing what it is now,I do feel better,it was the NOT knowing that drove me nuts.WHEW! (:

Hi Stephanie.  I so hope and pray this surgery will put an end to your symptoms once and for all.  I've been dealing with the same exact thing for over 10 years.  With me, adhesions are the gift that keeps on giving and I average one surgery a year for bowel obstructions.  It's one of those things that you either learn to live with and adjust your life accordingly, or you have no life at all.  With pain and nausea management, I can't work, but at least I have a life I can still enjoy.  Keep us posted on your progress.  :-)

Steph,
I can imagine how much better you feel now that you have some peace of mind knowing what has been causing you all of this terrible pain...we've all been there and know exactly what you're going through.  I'm so glad that things went well and you're on the road to recovery!
Hugs to you!  Shelley

Hey Steph, At least they found out what was wrong....it took a while for them to find out. Thank God  you lived through it. I hope you recover nicely. Keep me up to date with your recovery and all.

Hi, I am just reading your story.  I am happy to hear that you are feeling better!  My doctor thinks I have an OC and I am scheduled for an ultrasound.  I found your post because I was searching for a link between diarrhea and OC.  Sorry to share so much but I am having a terrible time with this and painful cramping and gas.  Did you experience these symptoms as well?  Was it related to the cysts on your intestines?  It is truly overwhelming and I am trying to find some answers.  Thanks!

I am hoping for that same news next Tuesday - congratulations on your diagnosis and being able to get back to normal. I know the worrying has taken many days - mostly nights from me so far, so as sick as it sounds I am hoping for endometriosis.
