Consultation

Mar 17, 2008 04:40PM - 2 comments

Well, I had the consultation with my OB/GYN... She said that due to my family history, she is recommends removing the right ovary only... with the caveat that if the left ovary looks bad, then everything comes out (both ovaries and uterus)... I asked her about leaving the uterus for future IVF (possibly with donor eggs) but she seems to think that that isn't possible - wants me to ask the RE... So, I have to schedule the surgery - ugh...

Good news - the adoption process is moving along, slowly but surely!  We have to take a psych evaluations - over 600 T/F questions - oh the good times... and who would have thought all of the paperwork and questionairres and forms and tests is easier than getting KNOCKED UP?!?!

I am not sure why you couldn't leave just the uterus.  I mean if 55 year old women are doing DE cycles, their ovaries are sure as hell shot even if they are still there.  So why would you need them to keep your uterus.

I am glad you are moving along with the adoption process.  With everything that it takes to adopt, kind of makes you want slap the people that say "Why don't you just adopt?"  You don't "just adopt".  Crazy fertiles!!  :)

To SDScientist:

LOL...

I talked to the RE nurse... She said that she will double check with RE, but that she believes that if there is no uterus - then no donor cycle... I guess even if your ovaries are shot - they still produce some kind of hormones... I don't know - I am waiting to hear from the RE himself...
