Maybe its a deficiency

Mar 17, 2008 06:08PM - 0 comments

I appreciate all your comments, since I last posted I found out that I have a vitamin b-12 and Iron deficiency.

See I had gastric bypass about 5 years ago, I went to see my gastric bypass doctor. He sat me down to explain (what we now know, and what we did not know then, what we have discovered is...) that I need to continue taking Iron and vitamin B-12 in (crushed) form daily for the rest of my life.. apparently the part of the intestine that absorbs those nutrients from the food you eat is now by-passed or absent from my body.
I was not told this when I had my surgery 5 years ago, I was told, however that I would have to take vitamin supplements and protein shakes to maintain health.

I found that that Vitamin B-12 is extremely important part of good nerve health.  The doctor put me on Repliva I take it every day, it has made me feel better as far as energy and my depression has gone away.  But since I started back to work in January my pain has gotten worse.  I see a neurologist next month, I will suggest he check me for fibro but I fear that most of my pain issues may be related to my vitamin deficiency or I may just be trying to self diagnose.  I will try to get back to post the outcome.  I will also see if I can get a referral to a good Rheumatologist.  Thanks!
