This is a small thing, but one very useful tool I have found for staying in shape is the Weather Channel app on my phone. It has allowed me to see the temperature and chance of precipitation for every hour of the day.
I check the app in the morning, and I can see when the optimal time for going outside to run or exercise is.
Like I say, its a small thing, but if I can avoid being too cold or getting rained on it's just that much more likely that I will exercise.
