Apple Cider Vinegar

Mar 18, 2013 - 15 comments

Has anyone tried using apple cider vinegar as a means to lose some weight? Just wondering if anyone's had any success with it.

I've been using it for a couple days now (since saturday), and I've already dropped a pound in 2 days.

I have also started using the elliptical that's been collecting dust for awhile, so I'm sure that's helping too.

And eating healthier too. Salads and more fruits and veggies. It's really hard though when what you really want is junk food. But it's getting better.

If this weight loss keeps up, my dress will fit perfectly in July!

I used it before - and I didn't really lose a whole lot but it made my energy sky rocket!  Unfortunately, it gave me a bad reaction to red meat so I stopped using it.  What I found that using the stuff from the store doesn't really help - but to use the unfiltered organic kind with the mother in it.  It's a little cloudy and has little things floating around in it - but that's the healthy stuff.  Also, be sure to mix it with something!!  Straight up it will eat the enamel off your teeth.  I mixed in with some crystal light peach tea and honey and found it to be pretty yummy!

You put 1 tbsp in 8 oz of water. You have to dilute it because it's very strong. You can also add some honey, blackstrap molasses, or some liquid stevia to take the bite out of it. Even diluted it's still pretty strong.

That's the kind I'm using is the unfiltered organic. It doesn't taste very good unless you mix it with something like what you did, but sometimes with weight loss, you may have to do stuff that you don't want too. (like giving up my chips and chocolate!)

I just recently started working out with TurboFire and Brazil Butt Lift.  I've lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks and I feel amazing!!  I've been eating healthier for a while now - but have recently started to REALLY pay attention to what I'm eating.  It's incredible what you can do when you commit to something!

What is Turbo Fire and Brazil Butt Lift? That's fantastic!

Indeed. It was really hard the first couple weeks trying to stay away from the junk food and pop. But now it's not so bad. I don't crave chocolate or pop anymore. And if I want chips, I bought these cracker chips and they're really tasty. I think it's 20 chips for 90 calories. Much better then the regular chips. The really big one for me was since I've been drinking a lot more water, I don't crave pop anymore. I just flavour the water with Mio. It tastes like juice, but it has no calories or anything in it. I'm quite proud for cutting out the pop because it was so many empty calories and crazy amounts of sugar.

When you set a goal for yourself, I find it makes it much easier. I see that you have a trip in May, so yeah you want that bikini body!

I'm getting married in July. I bought my dress quite some time ago. Before I got pregnant with my second son, so I've got some work to do to get back into the dress. All I have to do is remember that dress, and that gives me incentive

I have tried quick fix methods like this.  Maybe I lost a little weight but it always comes back.  Unless you lose weight by doing something you can sustain----  it doesn't really last.

Your on a better path with the exercise and eating healthy.

Try at dinner this option----  no carbs at all at dinner. No bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, etc.  Then eat lean protein and vegitables.  This has been an easy way to lose weight for me but without doing anything that tastes nasty or that I can't do forever.

lots of luck and I am sure you will look terrific in your dress!

Oh, and by the way, the reason why I said dinner is that is often the biggest meal of the day people eat and doing it that meal has an impact (no carbs).  I eat some carbs at lunch though (portion control) because I feel like I need it or I get crabby!

lol yes I still like my carbs! It's really hard to stay away from carbs. Like having rice with your dinner. You would think it's a healthy option as opposed to potatoes, but it's no healthier. Or even just having a sandwich.

It really can be difficult to cut all that out, so I'm trying to do a little at a time. I think it would be hard to cut it out all at once. Especially since bread around here doesn't last very long, because my DF and DS love bread.

One step at a time, one day at a time!

TurboFire and Brazil Butt Lift are workout programs by the same company that does P90x and Insanity.  It's through a company call BeachBody.  It's really popular here, and most of the gyms in the states that hold classes teach through the beachbody programs.  I've just found that by buying the program and doing it at home I'm saving a lot of money instead of going to the gym. Plus, between working and going to school full time - I don't really have time to go to the gym, too.  I wake up about 5:30am and workout before work or class, while DB is still sleeping.  I've been committed for the last 2 weeks and don't plan on stopping!!  I haven't been able to give up soda yet - it's definitely a vice of mine.  I have been adding a LOT more water, and sticking to only 1 or maybe 2 diet sodas a day.  So far it's been working well.  I don't really believe in actually dieting, I'd rather make lifestyle changes that I can stick with forever.  Giving up carbs, for example, may be realistic for a lot of people - but it isn't for me.  Instead, I've switched to whole grain or whole wheat options.  It's all about doing what is best for you!!!

Ha ha.  Sorry!!  I did  find if I didn't put the pressure on myself for lunch, I could handle the no carbs at dinner!  but I hear ya, it is hard.

Hey, it's lunch time.  Have a potato!  Just not for dinner.  LOL

Mmmmmm potatoes!!!!

haha I hear ya on the carbs. They're a weakness of mine!

I'm not in the states, so I'm not sure if it's available in Canada or not. Yes the gym gets rather expensive. That's why I got an elliptical. That is definitely commitment!

That's more of what I'm trying to do is a lifestyle change. I'm not using Weight Watchers or anything. It's just more about watching what I eat and portion control

That's what I've been trying to do. I'll have a sandwich for lunch, but no bread at dinnertime. And switching from rice or poatoes as a side, I'll have salad instead.

I just started drinking apple cider vinegar in a big glass of water 3 times a day more for the "cleansing" affect.  It is supposed to help fight cholesterol, high blood pressure, and to help fight plaque build up in your arteries.  It is kind of nasty to get down, but if you dilute it real well, it isn't too horrible if it indeed has health benefits.

As for losing weight, I've never heard of that.  I'd guess your diet change and exercise has a lot more to do with your weight loss recently.  Whatever works though....

From the research I did on it, your body naturally stores fats to use at a later time. What the apple cider vinegar does is break down that fat so your body doesn't store it
