It was a miserable 10 days without anything to help her itchies. Especially these last few when her eczema really blossomed over most of her body (all of her arms, legs, shoulders, neck, and even face... a little on the trunk area, but not as much as you would expect). We didn't sleep the last 2 or 3 nights.
And we were trying so hard to not medicate her at all with anything for fear of messing up any testing...and the poor darling came down with a repeat ear infection and her asthma was giving her some major issues. Stupid idiot parents, didn't realize how bad the asthma was getting. It's not like adult asthma or even teenage asthma with wheezing. So, it's really difficult to determine if she's having trouble breathing or just has a cold. Ended up at the pediatrician's office Wednesday with a fever and breathing issues and just an awfully sick child. She put her on prednisone and augmenten (sp?) for the ear infection (which is probably also a sinus infection) and the asthma. Plus a breathing treatment. I think everyone heard her wailing "I ready go home mommy!" for the entire 10 minutes of the treatment. I'm sure the entire state heard her, she was loud! We had to forcefully hold her down to get her to take the treatment. I hate doing that, but it was necessary. Pediatrician was impressed with how articulate she was with her demanding statements.
So finally we had our allergists appt for Lauren yesterday. They tested her for some of the most common allergies. And strangely it wasn't nearly as bad as I had expected. She's moderately allergic to eggs and severely allergic to cats (poor Tony Kitty...poor Kathryn, she loves that cat). We're trying to figure out what to do with the cat in terms of being able to keep him and help Lauren. There are some products we're going to try before we commit to giving him away. Any suggestions out there from the peanut galleries? Wouldn't want the kiddos to think that we just give animals away when things don't work out.
The doc also prescribed for us a slew of ointments to try, 2 for the face, one non-steriodal all-over gel stuff, and 2 for the body (one is HIGH POWERED for the bad spots). She was really nice and supportive, understood the parents were going to need some valium if we couldn't figure out how to get the baby comfortable. We may be in for a fight with the insurance on the meds though since she's only 2 and there are so many creams. Well, if they aren't THAT expensive, I might just out of pocket them. She needs SOMETHING to help. Most of these are just to get her over this rough patch and then find one or two that will be her continual support.
We're scheduled to have her 2 yr old pics made on Saturday and we've got to clear this up a little bit!!! She looks akin to an alligator right now.
Oh and she's 32 inches...so the projected height is 5'4"...topping mommy by 5 inches!!! I'm going to be looking up at both my girls.
