No Greater Love

Mar 21, 2008 04:29PM - 4 comments

I just love Fred Hammonds voice. I love all his albums. I was listening to him all day. Playing the same song over and over - "No Greater Love," cause I can't help but think today, Good Friday, what God did - the ultimate sacrifice.

If you haven't ever heard the song or if you need to be encouraged, you might want to listen. It's such a simple song, the lyrics, that is, and really, when I thought about it, the message of the Gospel is simple - John 3:16.

Fred has a really nice tone to his voice, that's what I like most about his voice - the tone.

" To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called the trees of the righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified."  Isaiah 61:3  Happy Ressurection Day.....

Happy Ressurection Day to you both.....

Another one of my favorite songs, one I really enjoy singing myself - an oldie but goodie - "Oh Happy Day."  I remember years ago it would be played even on secular radio stations and I always loved the song itself, but its meaning didn't take root in my heart until years later. Never thought that sometime years done the road, I would be believing the words and singing it myself. I like the Edwin Hawkins version the best though. I think that was the original, but not sure, but anyway I always loved Ray Charles from the time I was a kid, always had his music playing - my mother, Aunts,Uncles everyone had his music - Ray Charles was able to reach people of all ages and all colors. I found this on Utube - him singing "Oh Happy Day." Ray Charles was so great, such a talent.
