I went in for another attempt at having the LP recently and this time took all the necessary precautions to avoid passing out again. No alcohol for a week, good meal the night before, good breakfast etc...
I was nervous leading up to it. I went in to get some blood taken before I was to have the LP. The nurse taking my bloods said "oh dear, I have burst a vein". It made me feel a bit funny. Then while working on my other arm she said I had nice juicy veins. I asked her if she was trying to make me feel worse as I had just warned her of me passing out last time. I told them I felt faint and passed out. When I came round I had been incontinent and the nurse said she believed I had been fitting as my arms were jerking. I felt worn out and weak after and did not want to go through with the LP as I was sure I would just pass out again. When I come to I am disorientated so this is probably not good when you have a needle in your spine.
After doing some research on seizure and syncope I don't believe I had a seizure. I know I'm no doctor but there is something called convulsive syncope which would explain my arms jerking. Also incontinence is not impossible with syncope, though rare.
I have an appointment to see my neuro this week to discuss things.
