Think of group therapy as a way to allow your medications to work better.

Also, there is no shame at all. Schizophrenia can develop in almost any stage of life and affects many. Its a treatable thing.

I think the good thing about group therapy is that it really shows you you're not alone, that other people are going through some similar things. And sometimes when we feel weird, it's easy to imagine we're all alone in the universe.

By the way, I once knew a guy with schizophrenia. He was the most talented man, so creative! It seemed like the illness gave him a unique way to see the world, and he used that in his work.

Blessings to you. Ginger.

Well coming from a person who has made a full recovery from schizoaffective I'd say schizophrenia is very treatable and things do work well now but future treatment (not that far off) will be even better. Group therapy can be good if people try to be supportive of each other and bring out good ideas such as we all do here. I've always found the best way to look at something like that is not to look back at what could have been but to look forward to what will be and build some practical recovery goals to acheive that.

It doesn't seem to end, does it?  :(  When it rains, it pours ... reality blows.

I wish you the best and that you aren't diagnosed with more stuff you don't need to be dealing with.  This is a good website, and I know that you know you have support here, so I'm here for you, as are other people - through thick and thin.
