24April13 EOT 12 week Gilead Trial

Apr 27, 2013 - 3 comments

10 week PCR still UND. 12week EOT clinic visit for blood draw and EKG.  Feeling really good. Once I figured out diet then no head aches or stomach problems last 6 weeks of treatment. After results of LoneStar San Antonio Trial in for 12 week, they moved me back to 12 week from the 24 week duration. Hopefully I will be in the 75% or better group for SVR.

Very exciting. Thanks for sharing.
What did you do about the diet?

I had had trouble  with cheese and fats.  Once I cut them out then my stomach problems ended other than a little gas.  I had nausea and some stomach pains in the beginning. Employee at my work said she suffers from colitis and listening to my symptoms said to follow her colitis diet and it might improved.  She was right.  Her colitis diet said to also cut gluten.  I did this in the beginning but then had some bread and it did not cause problem. Interesting that the current treatment PI's need fat and these new drugs are the opposite.  My NP said another participant was having same problem and she suggested the diet change and it worked for her also.  I only would do nonfat yogurt and then lean chicken breast and fish.  No other meats, cheese, or milk.  I swithed my Keifer to lactose free. All side effects subsided.

That is very interesting. When I was taking sofosbuvir and riba I had digestion problems too and ended up cutting out all dairy and cutting down a lot on gluten products because it seemed to help. I thought it was just an individual response to the meds.
