My time line

Mar 27, 2008 09:32PM - 2 comments

This is my time line I gave to my MS specialist. I followed the outline suggested by Quix. A lot of personal stuff. I hesitated in posting it.  But maybe it will help others???-----

General,
I have been very fatigued recently. Needing at least 10 hours of sleep a night. Even with that amount I am still tired during the day and need to rest often. I notice increased fatigue after taking a shower or becoming to warm also.

Allergies,
I have a few food allergies. These include Molds, Penicillin, fish, nuts, oranges, apricots, arrowroot, onion, yeast, and mushrooms. These were found through skin testing by an allergist. I have also had a reaction to latex gloves. I developed blisters on my lip after a dental visit.

Eyes,
I have had pain in my right eye off and on for several years before developing Optic Neuritis recently. I had an MRI in 2001 because of eye pain, headaches, and numbness in my right foot. I am extremely sensitive to light. Even before Optic Neuritis. I have a difficult time seeing under florescent lighting.

ENT,
I often have ringing in my right ear. Recently I have had trouble chewing. My jaw becomes very fatigued.

Heart,
I have been on medication for mild hypertension for about 22 years now. It has always been well controlled. I am careful about my diet making sure I do not drink caffeine and eat too much salt. I try to watch my weight.

Digestive,
I was diagnosed with IBS when I was younger. I often have a lot of gas pain and loose stool if I am not care of what I eat.

Bladder,
I have noticed in the past year I have a difficult time emptying my bladder. I go often and in small amounts. I feel like I have a very full bladder when in fact I really do not. I was just diagnosed with a bladder infection. I have not had one for more than 20 years.

Musculoskeletal,
I am experiencing muscle weakness, tingling, and a feeling of numbness or disconnectedness in my right leg. I have had a lot of muscle twitching recently and some muscle cramping especially in my right leg. I have a difficult time lifting my right leg to put my shoe one. I cannot go back on my heel with my right foot. I have fallen because the front part of my foot and toes don’t always clear the floor. I am also noticing balance problems. I think I may have restless leg syndrome and it can be very uncomfortable in the evening when I am trying to rest. I get a very strong urge to move my legs.  I have trouble with a stiff lower back. When I started with Optic Neuritis I had a lot of weakness in my arms. It was so bad I could not cut a cooked pizza with a pizza cutter. I am usually a very strong person.
I have had a lot of trouble with facial pain in the past. My PCP felt I might have trigeminal neuralgia. It is on the right side of my face. My mother and my sister both have a dx of trigminal neuralgia.

Neuralgic,
I have recently experience trouble with dizziness, numbness and tingling; Difficulty with handwriting at times; and Trouble remembering. Trouble remembering what I am saying in the middle of a sentence. Trouble following a story or instructions someone might be giving me. Even with speech I have noticed I have had trouble getting the words out correctly.

2001- MRI for eye pain, numbness in my foot, headache, and lots of fatigue.

2002- first bout with what Dr feels may be trigminal neuralgia and fatigue again.

2004- another bout with trigeminal neuralgia--doctor gave me Dilantin but I decided to see if I could get through it without taking that med because it could make me tired. More tired than I was.

2006- Started having trouble with my neck and lower part of my scalp up to my ears going numb.

2007- May of this year started with face pain and then eye pain on right side. Felt like trigeminal Neuralgia was flaring again. Then my eye started to become blurry. I started having a lot of difficulty with cognitive issues. Lots of fatigue, tingling, numbness, feeling of being in a fish bowl. Having a hard time focusing on anything. My right leg felt like it was not attached. Balance problems. Now a bladder infection. Heat makes me feel much worse. I need to lie down for a while after I take a shower if I get over heated. I have not tolerated being outside very well this summer. My eye starts to get really blurry if I get hot. I also get sick to my stomach and feel weakness in my legs. Tingling toes. Difficult picking things up with my right hand at times. I still get stabbing pains in the right side of my face at times. It comes and goes.

January 2008 Optic Neuritis again.

Feb 2008 Saw MS specialist on Feb 13 and was diagnosed.
Started Avonex
