10 out of 10 Fertilized

Mar 31, 2008 09:25AM - 12 comments

Hi everyone,

I just spoke to the RE and he stated that 10 out of 10 of the eggs fertilized. He stated to call him on Wednesday morning to see how well they have done up to that point. He stated we wanted to wait to blast if I have enough 8 cell.
I am a little confused as I had the ER on Saturday. I thought you either had a 3 day transfer or a 5 day transfer.
Do I count Saturday or start on Sunday? If I start on Sunday, that means Wednesday will be day four and Thursday will be the fifth day.day five.

Is this normal? OK? Please provide your thoughts.

Thank you for all of your encouraging words. I can not explain in words how much that means to me.
I am wishing all of you babies ASAP!!! Be encouraged :)

Oh my gosh. That is awesome that all 10 fertilized!  Today is Day 2.  Day 1 is the day after the retrieval.  I have heard of Day 4 transfers, but Day 3 or Day 5 or more common.  Maybe he will call you tomorrow if he wants a Day 3 transfer?  My Dr called an hour b/f he wanted to do the transfer and said "can you come down right now, I know the 2 I want to put back so let's do it today".
Call back and ask him.  No need to worry about something he should easily be able to clarify for you.  Or call tomorrow and just say "I wanted to know how my embies were doing, how many 8 cell embryos do we have today-are we still on for a Day 5 transfer on Thursday?".  I am crazy and I call and check on my embryos every day.  I hate not knowing how many are still growing.
Keep us posted.

Erakal - that is terrific news!  I was there on Sunday and asked about you, but they couldn't tell me anything, of course.  My egg aspoiration is scheduled for 5 am Wednesday.  It's taken a bit longer for my the eggs to develop, but they are there, and in in all different shapes and sizes.  Some small, some XL.  I don't know if that makes a differnece??  We delayed the EA until Wednesday to give the smaller ones a chance to mature.

So, we just did the HCG shots - 2 of them - about 30 minutes ago (and said a prayer before each shot).  20,000 IU, so we'll see how that works.  I'm feeling a little sore at the injection spot, but I think that is normal.

Ten fertalized, Erakal!  That's just wonderful, wonderful news.  Please keep me posted.

Sending lots of good karma, positive thoughts, and prayers for motherhood your way.

Warmest regards~

SDScientist: I will have my DH call on tomorrow to check the status of the eggs, using the approach you suggested.
I thought he (RE) would phone me and keep me abreast of the embies but I guess I will have DH call tomorrow and I will call on Wednesday morning. Your day is fast approaoching. I hope you are getting plenty of rest, no stress and remaining encouraged that you will receive a BFP this cycle AND a HLB. You know I am cheering in your corner.

reneeolay: I am glad you posted as they would not tell me anything about you either. I hope all goes well, sending prayers your way. He did not change my trigger shot. It remained at 10,000. He told DH that he was encouraged this cycle and everything was looking good. I can not believe he wants you there at 5:00 am, oh my...set your alarm...never mind....if you are like me, I could barely sleep the night before. How is your DH doing? I told my sister and she also said that she is praying for you and DH because it is your time for motherhood.

I am sending positive thoughts, prayers and SSBD your way ladies...........this is our time......let's name it and claim it.

Wow! 10 is great!  I am hoping for lots of high quality blasts!  I also had a 5 day transfer.  I called my embryologist every other day.  She doesn't check them daily because she said it's not good to disturb them (light etc..) too much.  Maybe she just didn't want me bothering her daily!  haha  Keep us well informed!  We are all rooting for ya!!  Your transfer will most likely be Thursday!  I'll be thinking of you!

Hi all...
DH just phoned the RE and he stated 5 are 8 cell and 1 is a 6 cell. ET will take place on Thursday.
What happens to the embryos once they reach 8 cell? Is this a good number out of the 10 that fertilized?
I was too nevous to call. I had DH use the technique that SDScientist suggested yesterday and it worked. Thanks SDScientist.

SDteacher: What cells were the embryos when they transferred them back? How many did you transfer?

I once again will like to thank all of you for your positive thoughts, words of encouragement and well wishes...keep them coming PLEASE!

I am still praying for each and everyone of you.

8 cells on Day 3 are great!  That is exactly what they should be-good range is 7-9 cells.  After today the cells are hard to count as they continue to grow and multiply exponentially and by Day 5 (thurs) there will be hundreds and the placenta cells have differentiated.

Now we wait.  Can't wait to hear how it goes on Thursday.  So excited for you.

Since I did a 5 day transfer, I never got the report on embryo cell count.  He grades them 1-4 and A-C I only had one blast that made it and it was a 3 in the morning and a 4 & hatching by the time of the transfer (4 is the best) B,B  (C,C is the best).  I wouldn't get too caught up in the grading though.  I know women who have had the best grade and didn't get pregnant and woman who have had just average grade and gotten pregnant.  Woman who get pregnant naturally with a random egg and sperm; who knows what grade their embryos/ blasts. are!  Just pray that whatever it is; it sticks!  8-)  SSBD!

Grow embryos GROW! That's all i can say now, then STICK baby STICK :)
We were advised to be in the office at 10:30 for the transfer tomorrow.
I am excited and praying at the same time. I want all of them at blast in the am.

Good luck tomorrow.  I will be thinking about you.

Thank you. Do they already know if the embryos made it to blast or do they just have you come in automatically?

by SDteacher, Apr 02, 2008 05:16PM
They will talk to you before the transfer.  They are still growing and will continue to grow inside of you!  They will be blasts by the morning.  They will explain to you the size and quality of them before they make you loopy!   I always get valuim before my transfer to keep me still and calm.  I also get a shot of darvasett. 8-)  I am definitely loopy.
Good luck... I will be thinking of you!

They are going to make so don't worry about what they do when they don't make it.  The embryos will not be blasts until Day 5.  They will take a look at them tomorrow morning before transfer and see how they look and they can score the cells that become the fetus (inter cell mass) and the cells that become the placenta (trophectoderm).  They will also look at the expansion of the cells and how close to hatching and give that a number.  Then you get the "you have a 5AA blast".  I totally made up the number-every clinic does it different some use 6 AA as the best and some go backwards.  If your embroys didn't look like they were going to make it to tomorrow the Dr would have told you to come in sooner.  Relax...your babies are growing.  Let us know how it goes.
