Total Thyroidectomy and cold

It is two weeks since my TT and I have a cold.  Sneezing is not fun.  Went  back to work on Monday and Tuesday am had a raging sore throat and by tues p.m. was having runny/stuffy nose and body aches.  How rude.  Can't tell whether half of my symptoms are due to cold or going hypo.

Awe! Being sick is not fun for sure at anytime, but on a Holiday it seems so much worse! I hope your feeling better soon!

Hi,
Just wondering how you are doing post TT?  I am going to have one but not sure when since I see the doctor on 7/13/09.  It is cutting too close to the beginning of school so I might have to delay it until Thanksgiving break.  May I ask, did you have a suspicion of cancer?  I am just wondering how everything is turning out for you.  Post back to me if you can.  Thanks.

Hey Back...
I had tt on 3-25-09.  I was off of work for 10 days...At the time, I felt like I could use maybe another week, but I have done OK...I have been tired, with a lot of muscle fatigue, but still functioning...It's a bit like coming off the flu only for several weeks.
I had cancer, it was all contained within the thyroid itself.  According to the surgeon and the radiologist, it did not move past the thyroid bed.  They harvested a lot of lymphnodes, but they appeared to be only reactive to the Hashimoto's thyroiditis...antibodies attacking the thyroid caused a lot of issues...I had radioactive iodine afterwards and the dr's were pleased...I have to have a second full body scan in October...and that will hopefully confirm that we got everything...

So now I am maybe 14 weeks out and I am hypo, my TSH is at 20...I get cold so I wear sweaters and sweatshirts, it doesn't really matter how warm it is here.  And I am still tired a lot.  Dr upped my meds and I have to check back in 6 weeks.

I have had some really good days, some not so good days...But really I have done better not having a thyroid than I thought I would.
