.What I said in my last email was wrong. Here is the correct info...

I emailed my vet lots of info I found on the web & what you, the Vet here said to me. Well, he called me today & said I'm a bit confused so he told me the following.... I wrote it down this time.

Ten days ago, Julie's ACTH test for Cushings came back a 8.7 for the Cortisol=Steroid level in her body. That is NOT protein. The Adrenal glands are producing too much Cortisol. He said the safe level is 1.5 to 5.4. Our goal is to get Julie down to that number again.  Trilostane has NO steroid in it. The drug prohibits the production of Cortisol/Steroids in her body, in Cushings.   Now I understand.

A month ago she had a Urine test...thats Kidney related. It came back +3 for protein...too high. She also had a 8 hour Dexamethon Suppression test that day. ( that test showed the following for her kidneys & she tested posirive for Cushings, in Adrenal glands) Her protein/creatin ratio is 8.2. Too High. Her Bun & Creatin for Kidneys is NORMAL. HUH??? I am a bit confused here. My vet said he put Julie on the Hills KD because of her Kidney value=too much protein, NOT the Cushings as I thought.  The Cushings may be causing the abnormal protein level in her Kidneys, we have to wait until the Cushings is under control first. Than do another Kidney test to see the protein level.
He is taking precautions by putting Julie on Hills KD & low protein foods...just in case it is a Kidney problem also.
It just might be, than again, it may not be.
