My Story . . .

I once had 13 yrs clean & sober and life was really good.  I raised my daughter, set healthy goals and mega furthered my education (I hold a Master's Degree).1993 began to feel too much fatigue and was diagnosed with Hep C. Did the Interferon combo treatment for 6 months, didn't work and had awful side effects.  In 2002/3 did 6 months of the pegasys form of it-was horrid! Started the pain meds, vicodin at that time, later was switched to Lortab.  Then got diagnosed with fibromyalgia-more pain.  Began buying extra vic's and went on a 4 year road trip using everything I could get my hands on.  Oh yea, serious depression too for years.  Past 2 years I have only used opiates and benzo's and wanted OFF THE LEASH.  Went into treatment lasted 3 days, went in again year later and made 10 days begged husband come and get me cuz I was crawling in my skin with unbearable anxiety (cold turkey).  Now I had been hearing about suboxone and now it was available on outpatient. So I preplanned, had all my comfy sweats ready, stocked in easy to cook/eat foods and on 12-26-07 took my first dose of sub. gave it a 4 out of a 1 to 10 rating. But it did ok and I didn't feel desperate for an opiate. Saw the Dr early in January still feeling like a 4, and he said raise dosage from 2, 8mg tabs to 3.  Felt so much better, the runs stopped and I got some sleep.  Dropped it down to 2 tabs about two weeks ago and doing okay.  Been reading entries in this forum and see lots of varying opinions about this sub but it did get me off the opiates and the cost of buying them off the streets.  I increased my ativity with 12 step and have a good sponsor.Went from spending $400.00 + monthly to $10 copay. I have faith there will be a plan for getting to zero mgs, just not sure what it is yet.  Oh yea, pending Desyrel for sleep and depression.
