My vagina - PLEASE help!

Please help, I have no idea if this is normal or not.

This is hard to explain. I was using a tampon for the first time. I was pulling it out after 5 hrs of use and found I could only pull it out slightly. It felt like I was tugging on skin. I noticed that a thread of skin from (inside?) my vagina (thicker than a thread, maybe half as thick as a shoe lace) was looped over the bottom of the tampon(the end where the string is attached). I had to push the tampon back in to "unhook" it and then pull it out from the side.

I notice this "string" of skin when I stick two fingers inside my vagina. One finger is on either side of the thread. I notice it may not be from the inside, but on top of the opening of my vagina. In a way there are almost two small openings to the entrance of my vagina, except of course it's only a string of skin and doesn't have an entire "wall" Please help! Is this normal? I'm still a virgin and I worry this may complicate intercourse when I eventually have, and/or make it more painful because of this complication or confusion.

Hon please go see your family doctor. This is definitely not normal and your doctor should be involved.

I agree, see your doctor, it could just be a tissue growth gone wild or somethings else.  does it feel or seem mucousy?  or is it thready?   but, no matter what see your doctor, an examination will clear up your questions.  And when you do see your doctor, if you could please post and let us know what was going on, someone else may have the same question or issue that you are having and by you being honest and not afraid to talk about your body may help someone else.
all the luck to you!!  and pleas let us know ok

I finally figured it out through a lot of research and it turns out I have a septate hymen (http://www.youngwomenshealth.org/hymen.html)

The website was very informational and the illustrations weren't too graphic at all. Researching further I read up on stories who also had septate hymens and they experienced a lot of the same problems I had (i.e. inserting/removing tampons; difficulty with sexual intercourse).

So I was born with it and thankfully nothing too abnormal going on down there. I read that it can be surgically removed, or it can be ripped through intercourse (just that it will be a bit more painful than with an ordinary hymen).

Thank you for the comments and concern with trying to answer my questions, I appreciate it a lot!
