Well, I went into the Dr. yesterday.  This time the original Dr referred me to see a surgeon since the Cervical Epidural and the Cervical Facet Injections didn't do any good at all, if anything, they made the pain worse.  The new Dr. wants me to do a Disc-O-Gram so they can make sure that the C5/C6 disc is the one causing me all of my pain.  They informed me that I will be in extreme pain and to not plan on doing anything at all that evening except for laying in bed with an ice-pack.  I am so tired of the pain and not being able to turn my head to the left or to the right.  I have to turn my whole body.  Anyways, as long as the Disc-O-Gram shows the right result, the Dr will then set me up to have a removal done.  I am nervous about this one.  I can't seem to find any information on this test that they are doing next Thursday.  They explained it to me but still.....oh yeah, someone said to make sure you ask for Fentanyl during this procedure cause it really helps.........I had it with the last 2 and I still felt what they were doing.  They won't listen to me when I tell them that I have a high tolerance for the pain medication.  They think they can just go on my height/weight....sorry to tell you but with all the migraines and teeth problems I have had, I have been on so many medications that I have built up a tolerance to them.  The stupid Vicoden, or Tylenol 3 with codeine or the Darvocet N100 pills that they all love to prescribe....they don't work unless I basically overdose on them and then I get a little bit of relief, either that or I am stoned and can't think straight!!  I don't know what to think or do at this point.

Can you tell us what the disc o gram entales? Like you posted to your sight, we can't find any info on it, and my brother is having one done in 2 days. I hope you are feeling better, and can give us a little insight on it. Thanks, Linda and brother Marc.

The discogram entales being on a surgical table...they will give him something to calm him down but will not put him to sleep.  He will have needles put into his disc(s) and they will inject dye which will also cause a lot of pressure.  They are looking to see if the pain in each of the discs are the same or if they are different types of pain so they can ensure that the one disc they are looking at is truly the one that is causing the problems.  Like I was informed, this test is not meant to cause any type of pain relief but is actually used to cause pain.  Your brother will be in pain for a couple of weeks following this procedure but hopefully it will then speed up the process of surgery to have the one disc that is the problem removed.  I have had the surgery now and instead of putting a "cage" around the cervical spine, they inserted a man made synthetic disc and then inserted a "staple" to hold the vertebrae together.  I was in the hospital for a total of 24 hours after surgery...when he comes home, he will feel a lot of pressure but they will keep him on some pretty good drugs.  I really hope this helps with your questions and concerns.  Please let  me know if I can be of further assistance in this matter for you!!  Good luck to you and your brother!!

Hi, My mother will be having this procedure on this coming Friday. Im very worried it will make her problems worse rather than be of any help. They have told her it will help give her relif after the procedue. From what you have stated its a test and not a procedure to repair or remove any damage. Now im worried even more. Have you heard of any places to locate info on the procedure sence you have had yours done?
