Well, I WAS having a good day today until my son was getting ready to go to work and came back in and said someone had broken into his car last night. They stole the instrument panel. It's weird, that's all they stole! And he had CD's sitting in his seat and a fairly new stereo. We're thinking they may have gotten scared off. I don't get why they riped out the instrument panel except it's a Honda and I heard they're popular cars to get stolen, etc. I guess they can sell the parts.
I guess what's the most disturbing to me is we always felt this was a fairly safe neighborhood. It's an older more established neighborhood with mostly retired people. We've lived here 2 1/2 years and it's been pretty quiet. What's weird too, is my husband has a newer car and he always leaves it unlocked but it wasn't touched. My son always locks his car. Poor kid. He was all ready to go to work and now is trying to fill out a police report and deal with this. Oh well, maybe it's best that it happened while he was still living at home with us so that we can help him, although he's doing pretty well dealing with this on his own.
It's a little unsettling. It makes me wonder how safe we are in the house. Just thought I'd share.
