Talk about history catching up with you. My wife recently discovered that she had HPV during a normal pap. I had a wart removed when I was 18 (I am now 35). I was not told at that time about HPV or the risk of it re-occuring later in life. I can even remember her getting antibiotic treatment for HPV during the birth of our children as a precaution and still had no idea that the virus was linked to warts or even an std! She was devastated at the news and sure that it was during an affair that I contracted the virus and that I am lying about the fact that I didn't know I had it. She stated that I am the one person in the world she should be able to trust to not put her in danger! She is right, and I wouldn't have if I only knew! I have a beautiful family and would never do anything to destroy it.
She left me over this. I am devastated. Am I the only person that this has happened to. Is it possible that in 1991, there was such little information about the virus that my doctor didn't tell me? I am currently having my doctor attempt to find my records so that I can at least prove it wasn't an affair. However, proving that I am not a selfish, self serving moron for not telling her is going to be a tough sell.
Anyone with any advice???
