Craze of using skin whitener for lighter skin tone actually making the cosmetic companies desperate to use harmful chemicals. In the rat race of creating brand as a best skin lightening products, many companies are ignoring the guidelines suggested by FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Among the list of companies Kanebo is on the top now. Kanebo is a skin whitening products manufacturer in Japan. FDA revealed that Kanebo's skin whitening products containing 4HPB (4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butanol) OR Rhododenol which is extremely harmful on skin. Finally, Kanebo exposed in the market as 2250 users of Kanebo products reported as serious symptoms. One of the common symptoms is white blotches on skin where the products used.
Kanebo Cosmetics Inc. already recalled 4.36 million items of 54 products (containing 4HPB) from Japan and Abroad on 4th July. But on 9th September, Monday Taiwan will ban a skin lightening chemical used in Kanebo products after getting consumer complaints for white blotches. Only three weeks ago more than 6800 people are found to suffer from de-pigmentation as a result of using Kanebo products.
These are only the official statistics that revealed after the company exposed to the market but there so many other cosmetics manufacturer used harmful ingredients like mercury in their skin whitening products. Those products are so deadly that it can even cause skin cancer but we are not aware of it as the ingredients are not mentioned the label of the products. If the ingredients are mentioned although the common people can't understand its side effects as they are familiar with the effects of those chemicals.
