Sleepless with tinnitus

Headache

I have a tinnitus since November 2008. I took sleeping pills and various anti-depressive medications (Clonex, Cypralex). I gradually stopped taking the medications. The tinnitus has intensified since then. It is now a constant loud hiss that may turn to high pitch noise, possibly accompanied with headache.

Nights are the toughest times. I wake up after at most two hours of sleep with intense tinnitus and headache. The "cure" that I find useful for that is a hot shower, that messages the head, for few minutes. The shower allows me to get another two hours of sleep, again waking up with intense tinnitus and headache. After that I cannot sleep anymore.

Dozing is terminated similarly with the same intense tinnitus and headache.

How intense are your headaches?  If they are really bad it may be worthy to see your Doctor about it.  If you haven't already gotten an MRI or CT SCAN to rule out acoustic neuroma.  See some of the other posts I've made for additional information.

I have tinnitus 24/7 for 8 months. If I were you I'd get a THREE SPEED fan. Put it right next to your
bed on 3. Then take an 8 hr pain pill. Or, you could take one Aleve upon awakening w/the headache . It should go way in \
five minutes.

HI, I have had T for about 7 yrs and my most scary time at least in the last year of so is the INTENSITY of the loudness when awakening from sleep or even a nap, it blares and pounds with associated sounds as I have the pulse sensing / sync type of T.  It feels like my bp is going through the roof and my pulse rate sounds like its also going off the charts but it is not when I take it. The sounds as awakening about a minute of two after realizing I am awake again even from a quick nap make the T go 10X and puts me in a panic , it lasts for about 30-45 minutes and then lessens to the normal constant T.
My question is does this happen to you upon awakening or napping and what can one do for those 45 minutes of torture while the T is so intense and frightening for sure or is there something one could take before sleep or napping to minimize this or prevent the intense 10 x sounds,  I do have clonazapam I take 2-3 x day and at bedtime but this does not seem to help very much at all when I awaken. Please help or suggest something just when I awaken I is horrible and feels like a panic or serious problem until I wait it out in torture and it calms down to a tolerable level and of course has it variable degrees of intensity with other factors.   I am take diabetic pills for type 2, and high blood pressure pills , as well as cholesterol pills and a water pill. All seem to be under control but i wonder what happens at night to these ailments to make the T so unbearable just i awaken. I have an adjustable bed but nothing seems to help there I guess. thanks so much
