Most recent mammogram done in April 2008, required further diagnostic screening mammogram. Now I am told that I need to get a biopsy of my right breast. Past mammograms have identified areas of concern in my left breast for further diagnostic XMG and Ultrasound. I have even had to have aspiration of fluid filled cyst in left breast. Now I am told that I have calcifications of concern in my right breast. The Radiologist did not have great bedside manner, she told me I could go to a surgeon and he "would cut out a chunk" to do a study on or I could have the needle biopsy at the breast center where she works. She said the needle biopsy is not as definitive as what a surgeon would do since he would be looking at a larger sample. I was mortified with the news and when I asked about my right breast and why no further mammogram was being done on this breast since it was the one of concern in the past. She basically shrugged that off. It did not seem quite right for her to tell me this news about my right breast and essentially ignore my concern about my left breast. This is scary. My mother has a history of breast cancer and took Tamoxifen medication for years after receiving a lumpectomy.
