I had a hip replacement about 4 years ago. Ever since then, I have been taking tramadol. Ended up getting very addicted to them. Doctor told me that they were not addictive. Boy, was she wrong. I got rid of her for good.

Medical History

I wasn't going to write anything in this journal, but I think I will. Today I am kind of feeling a bit down. I have such a complicated medical history that it takes awhile to explain. But I will try.

About six years ago, I started getting this pain right in the left butt. It went around front to the groin area and down the back of my leg to the in step of my left foot. It was very, very painful, espically if I sit for a while. I seeked out every doctor you could ever imagine. I went to acupunture. I had MRI's, cat scans....you name it, I had it. I had shots in my back. I had a test down my leg that sensors the nerves in the leg. No one knew what the heck it was, and to this day no one knows either.
I went to my GYN and she thought it might be the pudendel nerve or the piriformis muscle. So she sent me to a therpiast who specializes in that type of thing. After weeks of going to her, it felt somewhat better. But then returned. Finally my pcp told me to go see an orthopic surgeron. So off I go to see him. He sees me once and tells me I need a total hip replacement. I was at my wits end with the pain, so I said yes. I had the operation going on four years now. Well, the operation was for nothing. I still have the original pain. That is why I was put on the tramadol. My pcp said it was not addictive. Well, she was so wrong. I used to just pop those babies anytime I wanted to. I was up to 18 a day. So, now I want to get off them. So I wean down to none at all. It took two months to do a slow wean. Now I am off them totally. I was off them for five days. I find myself on the sixth day in excursiating pain, the original pain. Hubby takes me to the ER as the pain was too bad to manage. The ER doctor puts me on tramadol again. He only gave me 20 till I see my pcp this Monday.
So thats kind of it in a nutshell.
