infection

this is my first journel post, thursday may first. I I have excellent healing on all my laprascopic surgery incision sites except one under my belly button. It is hard underneath and a giant patch of bright red about 3 1/2 by 4 inches. across my stomach. very concerning to see. i have been on antibiotics since Tuesday ( 3 full days) with little change. Anyone else get this type of infection? Im really worn down everything is an effort.

Dear Judy,

I think a phone call to your doctor would be in order for you tomorrow. I had no problems with infection, so I can't speak from a first hand experience, but it doesn't sound like the antibiotic is doing it's job. You may need to be on a broader spectrum antibiotic. What one are you on? The tiredness you are experiencing could be from your body trying to fight off the infection. Do you have a fever and/or chills? That would be another sign. Best of luck to you, honey, and CALL THAT DOCTOR!!!!

Hugs,
Shari

Hi Judy,
Hope your seeing the doctor with this...I am going thru something that sounds like yours, but since not a doctor I cannot say for sure. I spent 17 days in the hospital (got out on Monday) with a hard mass at the top of my incision, and another egg sized mass at the bottom. The area was red and sore so I went in to see my doctor who had never seen anything like it and tried draining it but with nothing coming out of it. They did a cat scan and could see the egg sized masses. I was treated with 3 different antibiotics for two weeks straight..vancomycin, aztecman, and flager (not sure of spelling sorry). They have shrunk quite a bit, and I will see doc again on Monday (5th) if they are not gone they will operate to remove the masses. I do not want to alarm you, but I do think you should make sure to follow this with your doctor. Don't let it get out of hand.
best of luck
