Yesterday was a better day - no coldness! Well, not any lingering coldness, anyway. I was cold when I first got up, but a cup of tea and a blanket chased that away. It did not come back, though I was up and about all day long, too.
The surgeon's office called and woke me up to ask why they had not received my final calcium level check bloodwork results yet. Ooops. Because I forgot to go have it done, I said! I felt bad - but I totally spaced on it. So, I ran up to the hospital and got it done. I pulled in to the parking lot, and there was my Dad! He volunteers on Thursday mornings and drives folks in the little cart from the parking lot to the front doors. So, he gave me a lift. Too funny. While I was waiting for my bloodwork, the woman at the desk called me up to her desk....she apologized if she was being intrusive, but she has been having thyroid issues and wanted to chat about them. So strange - I never gave a second thought to this gland before all this, and now it's everywhere! She was lovely, but her doctor is not taking her seriously because all of her levels are normal. She said one level (peroxidase maybe? something not T3, T4, or TSH) was off the charts high, but they kept telling her it was no big deal. She had a biopsy in the past, and I told her to just keep pushing if she is not feeling well. I also told her to make sure the levels they were using to diagnose her as "normal" are the newest ones. She was so thankful to talk to someone about it - it made me feel good. I told her there are amazing support groups (and articles!) online, too. Then back to the parking lot to see Dad again...who brought me back to my car.
From there, I went to the best local ice cream stand....no, no cone for me on the LID....to pick up a gift certificate for a friend's birthday, then to the surgeon's office to drop off paperwork, to the eye doctor to pick up my glasses and have paperwork filled out, then Target for gift cards, and then finally to my best friend's house. Rory (her almost 3 month old son) managed to stay awake for about 20 minutes in my presence. It might be a new record for him with me - so we went for a walk...it was almost 60 out and lovely. It felt good to be in the sunshine (with my sweater zipped up to my chin so no sun would hit my scar!). It was a nice time.
Mike and I ran a couple of errands then came home and had dinner. I worked on a blanket I'm making and watched some tv....but I still was awake until 2 a.m. and slept until 11 this morning. Ugh. I have got to get back on a more normal schedule.
I still don't have much of an appetite. Yesterday I had tea at 10....a handful of nuts at 2:30....dinner at 7:30. I just have no interest in food, but then I get hungry around dinner time. I guess it's no big deal. I'm not hungry today, either... drinking a cup of coffee right now.
So, things improve day by day....that makes me happy. I hope today is better, too, though there is nothing on the agenda. A run to the eye doctor's office to pick up paperwork, and that's about it. Maybe I'll go to the movies this afternoon....with a huge purse so I can sneak in some LID-approved snacks (provided my appetite is back then!). We'll see...I'm just glad to be feeling better.
