Suzy died last spring at the ripe old age of 17 years. I was with her when she died from multiple seizure that also took her sight. RIP Suzy. Her nick name was purr brain because she was always purring even when she was on deaths doorstep. When she was 2 yrs, I noticed her falling out of a tree over and over again for 3 months. Then one day she came to the door and knocked. She had a hummingbird in her mouth. after she showed her prize, she took it to eat. She must of decided humming birds weren't worth it. that was the 1st and last humming bird she hunted.

I thought cats were supposed to be graceful until I meet Simba. He has only caught 1 mouse his entire life.... by accident. 4 or 5 years ago, he was in the garage up in the rafters I turn on the light to get something which spooked Simba. He jumped straight up and missed the rafter (and luckily my car's bummer by inches) on the way down. He landed on a mouse then he grabbed it and ran into my house to my bedroom. needless to say I was freaking out about a live mouse in my house. I closed my bedroom door and was about to open the sliding door when Simba let the mouse go and started chasing it for a minute. Simba caught it (by now I found a baseball bat) and in less then a blink of an eye, he ate it.

when Simba was a loud to go out, he would 'try' to hunt but aways seemed to mess up his approach. he would do ok with stalking his prey, but when he should of pounced he'd moew. naturally his prey would get away and Simba would have a confused 'what did I do wrong' look on his face. it's kinda of funny and sad. when Simba looks out the window or watches the TV or I pick him up he chirps.

What a sad story!  What caused Suzy's seizures?  That must have been so hard to watch.  =(

I'm not sure what caused Suzy's seizures. it was very hard to watch. I wish Suzy would of had a more peaceful death, but I'm glad she didn't die alone. I took her back to my parents place (Suzy's old territory) and buried her next to my late dog, Tinker, they were friends.

I'm sorry you had to witness that.  I don't know if I could've taken that!  =(  When you love your babies, you do what you gotta do!

Did Suzy have kidney or liver problems?  Those conditions cause seizures.

I've known Suzy since she was a kitten. I gave Suzy her eye meds(hay fever) for my mom.  Suzy adopted my mom. my mom gave Suzy to me when she left town (for a job).  I took Suzy to the vet when I got her, all tests and blood work were normal a year before her death. On her last day, she was perfectly normal until 8:12pm. the 1st seizure it was very violent. I will spear you the details. after it was done, Suzy gave a scared meow. I looked into her eyes, despite all the lights on her eyes were fully dilated. her eyes didn't react at all when I used a  flashlight. I petted and talked to her until another seizure until she died around 3am.

I wasn't there for my 1st dog when she died. I didn't even get to say goodbye ,and I've regretted it ever since. I didn't let my kids watch Suzy, but between seizures (after I cleaned her up) they did get to say their goodbyes. they were there for Suzy's funeral. It was hard on all of us, but death is a part of life. I told my kids to be happy for Suzy, she doesn't have allergies anymore, her joints aren't sore when its cold, and she is back with her friends that already passed on.

OMG, that was absolutely horrible for both you and Suzy.  That was very brave and sweet of you to stay w/ her like you did.  What a great mom!  =)
