As long as the site doesn't get wet, it's the best thing for it! I was given ice packs in the hopsital after both surgeries.

Overnight on both surgeries - same thing for the other 5 in my family who had thyroid surgeries. Best of everything with your surgery!!!

Mine was (only) 5mm. The ultrasound showed complex (mixture of solid and cystic). Had a bad feeling about it and decided to have it out. It was cancer. All of my lab work was completely normal but, looking back on it, I had been having all sorts of problems for a few years prior which *could* be attributed to thyroid problems. Yet I had to abnormal labs....
Bad taste - synthroid or I-131?

It's the RAI (I-131). I lost all sense of taste for about 9 months. Everyone I've known who has had RAI has also had a loss of the sense of taste, or their sense changed, for a while.
Surgery is less than a week away!!! Questions
