Choking feeling is always a reason to talk to a doctor for further evaluation. The fact that there is a solid "mass-like" density adjacent to the upper pole of the left lobe is also need for further evaluation. I had the surgery twice and the best advice that I got was *ICE*!!!! The bruising is the blood coming to the surface from deeper tissue - that's normal. Put ice packs on the incision site - reduces swelling, slows the blood flow, and numbs the area. Your lymph nodes should have returned to normal now. Was there any spread to the lymph nodes? Have they done a radioactive iodine scan since your surgery? Do you know your latest thyroglobulin level?
