So sorry to hear that bad news. I can relate, as my back is a mess too. You are taking the right approach.First, by eating Fo Yo!!! Then thinking of your fun upcoming trip, and giving yourself time to take all this info in, and digest it. You might want to consider the back brace for days when you are really hurting, or doing lots of walking etc. I too envy...

You say Hubby is being referred to an Orthopedic Surgeon. Is that written in stone? IMHO, I would recommend a Neuro-Surgeon instead of an Orthopedic Surgeon. At least in my area, an ortho-surgeon takes are of broken bones, and sports injurys. When I had to have my discectomy and fusion done on my neck, I went to a neuro-surgeon. They are better qualified to b...

I think that is a great letter. It is calm, details the steps you have taken, and are asking for no more than he is qualified to give, and in fact stated he would give originally. But at the conclusion, you sort of leave it up to him if he will refer you to a neuro-optho.IMHO, I would request a referral now., or the letter he promised you originally. I don't...

Yes, an open MRI is worthless for diagnosis. I had one last summer on an open MRI, then went to a neuro with the results. It showed one lesion in the left frontal lobe . The neuro immediately ordered new MRI's with and w/o contrast, in a closed MRI machine. Fortunately in my case, it did not show any more lesions, and I was cleared of having MS. Please ask fo...
