Sounds like possible allergies or a sinus problem to me, postnasal drip can drip down your throat and causes coughing. I would look at finding the cause of your cough rather than just trying to treat the symptoms. Think about trying nasal spray and Sudafed seems to work well for my nose. Good luck.
