Hello, I have sent a message to the administrators at the medhelp website to move your question to the otology side of the forum to discuss the sepsis side effects. In terms of hearing loss from antibiotics-yes this is very common in life saving IV antibiotics and most of the time the loss is permanent. Has your wife had an audiological exam? If she is d...

Hello, thank you for using this forum. It sounds like you need to discuss this with your otologist/surgeon. Your symptoms do sound consistent with Eustachian tube dysfunction in which if so, your otologist can help you with that. I would suggest you give them a call and discuss your symptoms. Hopefully they will suggest that you come in sooner than your de...

Hello, Has your mother has a hearing evaluation to determine what is going on with her ears? If she has been diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss then she may benefit from the use of hearing aids. I would start by having the evaluation and see what the Audiologist recommends. Thank you, Rachele M. Orsini, Au.D.

Hello, I apologize for not answering this sooner. Based on your complaints, I would suggest you seek medical treatment through an Ear, Nose & Throat Physician. They will most likely also have you see an Audiologist for your hearing evaluation. Thank you, Rachele M. Orsini, Au.D.

Hello, You are doing what is called the Valsalva Maneuver which is commonly used to help equalize the pressure in the middle ear cavity when flying, diving and is also used in some heart abnormalities. Typically patients who have Eustachian tube dysfunction will get relief when they perform the Valsalva maneuver and report that the hearing improves momentar...

Hello, Thank you for posting this question. It sounds like you have had a terrible time with this. Unfortunately I think you need to see an otologist rather than just a "clinic" and I would do this ASAP. It is really never normal to have infections following ear irrigations if they are done properly and by a trained professional. Please see an ...

Hello, Thank you for using this forum. Have you had a hearing evaluation or seen an Audiologist for this problem? That is definitely the first place you need to start....seek out an Audiologist for a diagnostic hearing evaluation. There is a lot of information that comes from that hearing evaluation and without knowing that, it is very hard to even start t...
