Click on the Health Page icon on the top right hand side of this forum page. I have posted the DSM IV diagnositic criteria for autism and parents have posted examples of their child's behaviour that fits the criteria. That might help you get a better idea of what the professionals are looking for when they suspect an autistis spectrum disorder.

I'm glad you're having such a positive result with your daughter. Early intervention is recommended by all professionals regarding developmental issues. That is why I find it so frustrating that some areas just don't have it. We didn't use any medications. We just went sugar free and used probiotics and he is still on that regime, although he has the same as other kids at parties etc. It might be useful to get some advice from a nutricianist. For example it might be better to go sugar free for a while before you try the medications so that it isn't such a shock to the digestive...
