the I-131 dose for thyroid cancer is usually much higher than for the graves disease or just a body scan. I had mine(june 2008) and my tsh was greater than 100 and I had to be on isolation in the hospital for 3 days I threw up the whole time, puffy face soo tired I would see black dots every time I tried to stand.

I was diagnosed a month or so before finding the cancer with hashimotos thyroiditis however this didnt reflect really on my tsh or t4. I think the disease can make your tsh fluctuate. The test they did to determine my hashimotos was called THYROID ANTIMICROSOMAL ANTIBODY I think there is a different name for it too.

I almost had an ultrasound guided biopsy(bx) although my mass was not really small it was more across the whole isthmus and right lobe. the u/s is needed to guide the doctors if your mass is not palpable so they can get the right tissue.
I ended up seeing a different endo for the u/s guided biopsy and he found the nodule palpable so no u/s was needed.
Well I think the thymus is quite a bit lower than where I feel my pressure. When I had the barium swallow they didnt see and stricture in the esophogus I was surprised because it sure feels like it is much smaller than it should be!!!
