There is no way to know without details of the exam and testing such as ultrasound. This type of injury does lead to loss of eye if it can not be repaired.

Eye lid swelling is a common sign of allergies. It can be related to foods, medication, creams, soaps, etc. Use cold compress for the swelling. Hopefully, the allergist can figure out the problem. However, you should note what your child was eating, using, or playing with when this occurs.
