About Me: Female, 54, member since Dec 2006
March 08 FibroScan with HR revealed cirrhosis consistent with imaging studiies and labs done in January (CT and Ultrasound). Platelets at 97, as well as hinky wbc and rbc, all confirming that a 06 biopsy that staged me at 2 was incorrect. The gold standard failed possib... [More] ly due to a fragmented specimen that was too small.

I have never treated. Believing (or should I say hoping) I was still at stage 2 in spite of contradictory labs, and that I had held at that stage for 16 years, I planned on waiting for the new drugs. Although docs felt I was cirrhotic based on CT along with labs in July of 06, the first AFP and the only ultrasound were done in Feb of 07. No endoscopy either. NP also had told me I could wait to treat. That I had plenty of time even with cirrhosis.

Finally had endoscopy in May 08 which revealed Grade 1 varicies and portal hypertension.

Changed hepatologists. At appointment decided we would begin SOC in the fall due to my workload in the summer. Doc was fine with the Allinia plan. HIDA scan revealed wacky gallbladder (empties super slow) which could explain the bouts of nausea.

Next appointment with hepatoligist is Sept. 23, but I have a shot at a Boceprevir trial at another location. Will see trial doc and have labs and EKG on Sept. 29. Don't know what the deal is with platelets below 100. They know I am below that marker, but still want to have me come in. If I qualify, I have to begin the trial within 8 weeks of that appointment.

Otherwise I will plan on beginning SOC in mid-November with my fab Dr.

Just a quick note to say hi! Hope the screening goes well for you, I will be going in for my screening on Thursday, they said just a blood draw, EKG and a chest x-ray. If all goes well should be starting treatment by end of October. If I remember right you are doing the non-responder trial, I will be doing the naive trial, but I think they are basically the same. Has anyone started a buddy list for the Boceprevir trial? Take care and best of luck to you!
