is grateful that I at least have one thing going for me and it's a big one - I got good eggs (that's about it!)
About Me: Female, 32, Syracuse - NY, member since May 2007
I've been TTC with my wonderful husband for about 2 1/2  years now.  It took a lifetime of kicking and screaming, but I found a doctor that finally diagnosed me with PCOS in July '06.  If only they'd figured it out 5 years earlier... BEFORE I started packing it on! :o) ... [More]

Funny, even though I had surgery for a cyst at the age of 16 (in 1992 - damn! I'm old!) and several ruptures in my early 20's, and horrible periods.... it still took that long to find a doctor who finally agreed with me and checked me out.  I was always told "you're too skinny" - until 60 pounds later when I'd FINALLY reached maximum capacity, and could apparently have it taken into consideration.  It then took another painful year to find a DIFFERENT doctor who was willing to entertain the possiblity that I had endometriosis as well, and I had a lap done in December '07 for that too.  If only I'd known about the endo before spending 7 months in hell doing 5 unsuccessful rounds of clomid..... well, who knows??  I guess my lesson to those who are reading this is - if you think you have PCOS, start eating now and packing it on so they take you seriously!  No, just kidding!  My point is - you know your body, and if you think something is wrong, don't let any dip$hit doctor tell you otherwise.  I kept telling the doc that dx'd the PCOS that my periods were still excruciating, and that my mom and sister have endo, but all he was willing to do was Rx a ridiculous amount of narcotics to subdue my monthly pain.  So for that and so many, MANY other reasons - I moved on....again.  Sometimes you just gotta keep on searching until you find someone that will listen.

Since the surgery I've done one IUI that ended in a chemical pregnancy, and one failed IVF.  I'm currently on break and trying to lose weight and get things under control before trying again.  I keep getting cysts though, so I haven't made too much headway.  Now they tell me I probably have endo on my bladder and I'm facing my second lap, which I'm desperately trying to delay, since it's only been 9 months since my first one.  We'll see...

As far as "about me" aside from this all consuming trying to conceive game... I enjoy anything involving plants - growing them, being around them outdoors, eating and sharing the fruits of my labor.  I have a large garden (which I maternally grow mostly from seed every year) and over 50 houseplants that are my children, as well as my adorable dog  Bijou (see my photo) and my cat Nikita.  I also love to cook and beat my husband in scrabble.  I enjoy long walks on the beach... just kidding - I mean I do really enjoy long walks on the beach, but this is starting to sound like a personals ad! :o)

P.S. - If any of you ladies have any plant questions, I'll be happy to see if I can help (I'm emailed by my friends and family all the time w/questions).  I'm not pretending to know the answer, but I do know that I have a ton of plant books that I could look it up in - just send me a personal message :o) [Less]

Just a quick note to say hi! Hey, u are not alone. It took me 5years, after changing numbers of doctors and hospitals, finally the doc said I might be PCOS carrier. Done 2 IUI with him but failed. I think the doc, nurses, environment play a very important part. Finally, I stay with this doc, and hopefully she can perform a miracle on me. Dont hestitate to change docs if you feel she/he is not capable enough. All the best and take care.
