Hi Sue,
I've just come back from parents evening for my son. They have only known him since September, but they have a much greater understanding of his difficulties and strengths. They have already recognised that he has problems with memory retrieval around numbers and always has to use a number line to count. However he can visually recognise some numbers sometimes eg. the TA said yesterday he recognised the number 16 visually, but couldn't recognise the number 6!
I have got a private Speech and Language Therapist going to observe him tomorrow because I think his speech/language/communication difficulties are at least as severe as the autism.
Maybe your son's new teacher needs some time to figure him out and what he is capable of.

Sounds like a busy but enjoyable vacation.
We are in the process of moving all our animals to another bigger field.
Last weekend we put up a huge polytunnel with the help of around 10 other people. Kind of reminded me of the Amish people and a barn raising! We made lots of food for everyone (including goat and roast potatoes, feta cheese salads etc).
We've moved the goats into it, and because it involves so much time and effort we put up our tent in the field so that we could spend all day there. We are in open countryside and you would never believe you were just 200m from a housing estate.
The weather has either been sunshine and showers or absolute downpours!
Next year we want to visit Greece again, as long as we find someone to look after all the animals.
